I love LA. And this past weekend, I had a very LA day. I slept in, brunched, watched a movie, then enjoyed the California sun while sauntering through an outdoor mall. Ended the day with an overpriced but delicious burger ($14! Imagine the margins they make!) at Butcher’s Dog, a new pub/restaurant that opened up on Sawtelle.
Sawtelle is one of my favorite neighborhoods in LA, and it’s been interesting to watch it change over time. Dating back to pre-WWII, it has always housed a predominantly Japanese community with plenty of Japanese restaurants and shops. While the history and culture is still present, new cuisines and restaurant chains have started to pop up recently in this foodie paradise.
Case in point above: The shiny brioche bun was the perfect complement to a juicy, plump patty that was smothered by melting cheddar cheese. Every bite left me wanting more! Honestly, I really think I could have put down two of them… Alas, another day.
