What an amazing day for our 1st wedding anniversary. The gray sky shed a few raindrops, and the sun came in and out intermittently. It was a beautiful reminder that through rain or shine, life was beautiful. We arrived early to the Bund to do a mini exploration before our dinner reservation. We started down the alley by the Peninsula Hotel, where there was some beautiful architecture. The beauty of Shanghai is that you can turn a corner and suddenly feel like you’ve gone someplace else.
These steps I was sitting on – there was a sign next to the door stating that it belonged to an old association of some sort. The historical buildings with old plaques still intact lent an instant mood to my 1920s-esque outfit complete with feather earrings and low side bun.
I love nooks and crannies. Especially when I get to feel like a giant next to a tiny door.
When I see a beautiful gray wall, I just want to walk along it and be part of it. This particular one is a favorite because it ends with green shrubbery peeking out like tetris pieces.
The European-style architecture, cafes and restaurants give this little alley a lovely nostalgia. I got a little worried about my earrings when the wind started blowing, but it only made for better in-action photos!
