While I was in LA visiting my family last Sunday, I took my parents to a place called “Food.” For a family who lives to eat, you really can’t go wrong with that. All kidding aside, Ellen had suggested it and I had done my research as I always do. This place was known for its down-to-earth vibes, great service as a neighborhood eatery, and tasty non-pretentious food. For those weekend mornings in West LA when you’re hangry but don’t feel like waiting an hour everywhere else, Food is an excellent option with enough variety for everyone at the table.
We got the daily special, the Pasta Mama, a breakfast linguine dish made with Chino Valley organic scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon and chives, topped with thinly sliced parmesan cheese. My mom, who adores omelettes, created her own, with organic eggs, red peppers, spinach, sausage, and cheese. For something sweet, the Ricotta Pancakes with mixed berries and bananas sounded perfect to share. Our server was nice enough to recommend the kids size, a short stack that turned out to be the perfect portion for the 3 of us.
The food was all delicious and perfectly filling. Sometimes, a no-fuss spot with quality food is all you need to start your Sunday off right.
