Birthday Feast / Alexander’s Steakhouse Pasadena

Close up of Miyazaki Wagyu-2 I recently discovered my favorite steakhouse had opened its first location in Southern California: Alexander's Steakhouse, in Pasadena! They are known for their Japanese fusion. Yes, you heard right - a Japanese fusion steakhouse. I ended up checking it out one night with a friend, and then a week later, I found myself back there again for my birthday because it was just THAT good.

The Factory Kitchen / Buon Appetito, Downtown LA!

The Factory Kitchen Traditional Italian Food in Los Angeles @ HeySesame.com I love fresh, handmade pasta. The difference is amazing. So I was very much looking forward to my meal at The Factory Kitchen in the Arts District of Downtown LA. The architecture inside is quite impressive, with reclaimed wood tables and an open kitchen meant to make guests feel like they're in a "factory" in direct contact with the food production. We kicked off the meal with the (...)

Nozawa Bar with Chef Fuji / Beverly Hills

Nozawa Bar Beverly Hills Omakase @ HeySesame.com - LA Sushi with Chef FujiI must have done something deserving, for I had the good fortune of landing a reservation at the famous Nozawa Bar in Beverly Hills.  Nozawa Bar is a small sushi bar that seats only a lucky 10, tucked away in the back of Sugarfish.  With only 2 seatings a night, and only open on certain days, I had to make a (...)

Sonoritas Prime Tacos + Red Velvet Churro

Sonoritas Prime Tacos and Red Velvet Churro on Sawtelle @ HeySesame.com Ellen and I went to Sonoritas Prime Tacos on Sawtelle during my trip to LA.  Although we love the down and dirty places like King Taco, we were in the mood to enjoy some gourmet Mexican on the patio.  Sonoritas prides itself on quality cuts of steak (cooked in a charcoal grill, no less), along with seasonal and local ingredients made from (...)

Tsukemen Dipped Ramen / Tsujita LA

Tsukemen Dipped Ramen at Tsujita LA @ HeySesame.comTsukemen Dipped Ramen at Tsujita LA @ HeySesame.com When I was in LA this month, Ellen took me to my first tsukemen experience.  Tsukemen is a style of ramen where dry noodles come in a separate bowl and are dipped into the broth.  The purpose of dipping is so the broth doesn't overpower the taste of the yummy noodles. (...)

Boiling Point / Hottest of Hot Pots

Boiling Point Hot Pot in Pasadena @ HeySesame.com - Taiwanese Hot Pot I never really knew hot pot until I experienced Boiling Point.  This Taiwanese hot pot chain is mind-blowingly delicious and lives up to all the hype.  While I like sharing, let's not kid around - having the choice of my very own personal hot pot customized to my liking is pretty amazing.  As such, I was pretty excited to check out their newest (...)
